Unopened gift

This prompt was suggested by Laura in the Friday writing group at Tempe library.

Time is the gift waiting when my pets wake me in the morning.  A whole day ahead to work on building dreams.  Some of the day is taken up with tasks, paid work, cleaning up, and fixing meals. I enjoy most of my responsibilities, as most of my efforts are repaid with gratitude. Part of the day is pure enjoyment, looking out at the sunshine, listening to the birds, feeling the cool breeze, or later, absorbing the heat of the sun.  At sunset, I already feel the loss of the day, and even though I’m still productive in those long, dark hours, I already feel that I should have done more.

Tomorrow is the unopened gift we receive at the end of every day.

Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it yet.
