Baking day

Daphne Brown waved Bitty and Myra Jean into the kitchen, then put a bread loaf into the oven. A plate of sticky buns sat on the table. “Sorry, be right with you,” Daphne said. “Sit down; coffee will be just a jiffy. Or there’s sweet tea already made.” Fingers flying, she formed rolls and placed them on a pan. “I’m behind with the baking.”
“Tea sounds wonderful,” said Bitty, and Myra Jean nodded, noticing a basket of eggs on the counter. The second ingredient for carrot cake and the reason for their visit. Or was there more to it?
