Virginia is for…

Two-story pillared front porches
Blue Ridge mountain mist
cicada shells, persimmons
white horse fences
morning dew, crepe myrtle bark
honeysuckle-covered buildings
deer, buttercups, lightning bugs
peeper frogs, old mills
webs with yellow-marked spiders
faded wooden barns with tin roofs
freshly-sprouted fields, round hay rolls
church steeples, kudzu-covered cliffs
blossoming blackberry bushes
tractors lounging in a field …

As we drove across the eastern Virginia border, my daughter and I made this list of some of the things we like about Virginia.
