Chapter endings

My novel needs breaks,
so why do I hesitate?
If my intention
is to conquer and divide,
then I must capitulate.

This tanka inspired by #OneDailyPrompt and #JusJoJan plays on the Latin origin of “capitulate,” capitulare, or to draw up in chapters or headings. In the late 1600s it came to mean “yield to an enemy on stipulated terms.” It reflects my struggle to finish editing a novel that I started writing two years ago.
