Going back to 40 green acres
with 40 new paintings – surreal
Arizona in the rearview mirror,
postponing retirement yet again,
we return renewed.

“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.” ― Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky

During our three-year “retirement” in Arizona, Alvaro Ibañez created a whole new collection of paintings. I published nearly 400 posts on my blog and gained 300+followers as well as completing NaNoWriMo twice. We try to walk a mile a day, and we’re both healthier than ever. As we prepare to pack and move back to Kilmarnock, we’re full of energy and new ideas for promoting the arts in the Northern Neck of Virginia.

Surreal Arizona collection to travel to Virginia

  1. My husband and I moved back to Georgia, to be close to children, and you are right, returning is not the same as never leaving. We had a ball in Illinois, California, and Tennessee, making friends we would not have otherwise, but also growing in some ways in our faith in God, believing that everywhere we went, including Europe on vacations, we were meant to be and touch someone’s life and they touch ours. I wish you much success and joy wherever you roam.
