Our grand plan was to leave the rainstorms behind
with the seasonal threats of sliding under the sea,
so we headed West to a blank canvas, tumbleweeds,
fresh-squeezed winter mornings, rugged landscapes
that left us tongue-tied; Virginia memories
became nothing but a green flash glimpsed
passing mesquite trees along the highway.
Linda Kruschke came up with the perfect combination of paint chips to describe our cross-country move(s) between Virginia and Arizona.
This is awesome! Those were perfect words and phrases for this story. I particularly like the “fresh-squeezed winter mornings.”
