O living fossil! sole marsupial possible
in northern lands, bone-picking
pocket genius, genus Didelphis,
clinging Stanislavski passel practicing
snoozes, sneezes and snarls,
clean as a cat, rabies-free, grasping
with ‘posable thumbs and talented tail,
so prehensile they hold pencils …
Oh! ‘Possums write POETRY too!
Inspired by dVerse, a hilarious Bukowski rant, and the second definition of “prehensile.”
Fun poem, Denise! Love “opposable thumbs and talented tail” – 😀

Denise, I LOVE this devilish take on the prompt. So much fun. And thank you for the Bukowski rant link. Cracked.me.up.
