We enter with optimism,
dressed up for going out,
prepared to blow the budget,
forgetting past disappointments,
the freezing air and tall chairs,
wobbling tables, noisy diners
and indifferent service,
remembering as we pass
the whine list, the food
here is not as good
as what we eat at home.

Some places are definitely NOT worth the expense! Thanks for sharing.
I laughed at “whine list.” 🙂

You nailed it! Experiences otherwise are the exception, not the rule. My favourite eating out is an $8 steamed vegetable ramen at a Japanese food kitchen where you see everything done from go to whoa and it is absolutely great value, fresh and excellently predictable.
