Snooze

At this hour, well past
the birds’ daybreak chatter,
after the dew has dispersed
into dank morning air, my dreams
become most alluring,
promising better, brighter
worlds, hinting at secret
wisdom and riddles
awaiting unraveling,
if I stay a few minutes
beyond the alarm.
