How can I explain my vacant gaze
and reluctant response when clearly
doing nothing?
Invisible behind
that blank face, thoughts boil
and bubble, ideas foam and ferment,
fomenting lyric fervor, feverish
frothing cogitation effervescing, fizzing,
spuming forth from the source,
finally proving I was working on a poem.

Lovely. 🙂

Denise, I love the array of active emotions that are going on behind the scenes/mask.
Although you used the word work in your title, the prompt calls for it to be in the quadrille itself. Is there a way you can either amend the poem or submit another?
