This time last year

The autumn colors are appearing a bit early this year, extending the season of nostalgia.

....Bilocalalia....

the Arizona rose was blooming
sunset-colored like the maple tree

and, was it the year before?
the Arizona sunset bloomed like a rose

or was it long ago? Autumn scents
rose from scattered maple leaves
at the classroom door, the professor
in the dim ancient room intoning poems,
automne in near-rhyme with antan,
and I bloomed with the pink-gold hue
that I now wear in my sunset years.

automne is autumn, and antan means yesteryear

For me, fall is the season of nostalgia, and a certain scent in the air can transport me through time to the anticipation of a new school year. Inspired by dVerse.
