Does writing 50,000 words in November sound too difficult? How about writing a poem a day in October? I began participating in #OctPoWriMo in 2019 as a warm-up for my second year of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). Unlike NaNoWriMo, #OctPoWriMo is an informal movement identified only by a hashtag. For the technologically challenged like me, Oxford English Dictionary defines a hashtag as “a word or phrase with the symbol # in front of it, used on social media websites and apps to search for all messages with the same subject.”
I started October one day behind, so I’ll catch up by providing 5 prompts from the Tempe Legacy Writing group. We took turns providing one per week.
- Write about something you see so often you never think about it.
- Finish this phrase: the first day of …
- Choose a color and write about it without naming it.
- Write a poem inspired by the art of Antonio Diego Voci.
