#OctPoWriMo

Does writing 50,000 words in November sound too difficult? How about writing a poem a day in October? I began participating in #OctPoWriMo in 2019 as a warm-up for my second year of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). Unlike NaNoWriMo, #OctPoWriMo is an informal movement identified only by a hashtag. For the technologically challenged like me, Oxford English Dictionary defines a hashtag as “a word or phrase with the symbol # in front of it, used on social media websites and apps to search for all messages with the same subject.”

I started October one day behind, so I’ll catch up by providing 5 prompts from the Tempe Legacy Writing group. We took turns providing one per week.

  1. Write about something you see so often you never think about it.
  2. Finish this phrase: the first day of
  3. Choose a color and write about it without naming it.
  4. Write a poem inspired by the art of Antonio Diego Voci.
