Phases

A poem is a nanosecond
moonshot in my brain, a sliver
of inspiration, a bright crescent
rising on the horizon,
until I decide to commit
that quicksilver to words
on paper, timeless,
inscribed for all eternity.
Then comes a full eclipse.
