There’s plenty to forage
here, from marshland
to field to forest, the last
pawpaws, the autumn olive
at its scarlet peak, and now
the frost-touched ripe
persimmon, sweet
as honey, and still
it’s the weird, even alien-
looking plant that lures
with seeds like sunrise,
food for animals but
forbidden to me.

From magnolia to Virginia creeper, pyracantha (cover photo) to American strawberry plant (pictured below), berries beckon, gorgeous colors covering trouble.
Inspired by Reena’s exploration, Moonwashed, and the Word of the Day challenges.

A delicious poem! Seems unfair we can’t enjoy those inviting and colorful fruits. Thank you so much for joining in.
