For hours, the pear tree tossed
in gusty winds, voiceless under
the roar of rain, moaning unheard,
fitfully illuminated by the moon.
Brash sunrise scatters fallen leaves,
the few signs of last night’s storm
along with a scent of petrichor.

Petrichor… I’ve heard this word used, before. Atm… it’s raining where I live, so perhaps I’ll sit myself on the porch to experience this scent, since I don’t often do so.
Rain is always very tranquil and soothing. 🙂

It was one of the prompts, and a handy way to describe that exquisite smell after rain.

Great use of the words. Lovely images of the tree in the wind against the moon. You did the words justice!
