Window or door?

Last week at an art festival in Gloucester Virginia, I wandered off the path to look into windows and stare at doors. There was the red door next to the community mural and an open metal door adorned with rust and peeling paint. And the windows! Dormers and arches, windows looking through other windows, reflecting on shadows.
Do you know the expression, “you make a better door than a window?” It’s usually said to someone who’s blocking the view. I think I would make a better window.
