Displacement

I promise not to think
of lapis lazuli skies, rusty mesetas,
and honey-colored haciendas
when looking out on East coast woods,
brushed aluminum storm clouds,
and the sparkle of raindrops on glass.

Then I walk into the painter’s gallery
and Open Sesame!
